Building and Electrical Inspector                                                                     Bedford, Ohio

The City of Bedford Building Department is seeking a full-time building and electrical inspector.  Qualified applicants shall have working experience and knowledge in the inspection of commercial and residential buildings, in the enforcement of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the State of Ohio building codes.  Familiarity with Property Maintenance Codes, Rental inspection and Point-of-Sale inspection procedures will also be required.
     
Applicants must possess, as a minimum, the following State of Ohio certifications: Electrical Safety Inspector (ESI); III Building Inspector (BI) and a Residential Building Official (RBO).  Other certifications will be considered a plus.

Applicants must be able to perform field inspections and shall possess good people skills.  The successful candidate must have the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with the public, with local business owners and with local contractors.  

Applicants shall possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and be capable of composing and preparing letters and notices to clients and citizens as deemed necessary.

A valid Ohio driver's license is required.  Drug and alcohol testing and a background check will also be required.

The starting pay will be between $48,000 and $52,000 plus an attractive benefits package which includes insurance and vacation.  Bedford is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Permit Technician                                                                                              Toledo, Ohio

The City of Toledo Division of Building Inspection will fill a Permit Technician position.  The qualified candidate  must  be  able  to  perform  technical  and  clerical  duties  to  initiate  and  issue  building  and construction  permits;  process  requests  for  property  use  changes;  research  atlases;  review  residential construction  drawings;  research  flood plain  and  zoning  maps;  calculate  fees  and  perform  related  work.  The candidate must be able to interact professionally with contractors, developers, architects, engineers, as well as the general public.
